Being a Brooklyn-born brand means a lot to us. We love drawing inspiration from our Brooklyn neighborhood – from the graffiti art in our office stairwell (hint: see photo above) to our packaging, to the products themselves. As an ode to the city we were born in and to our LGBTQ+ friends, today we’re shining the spotlight on some of our favorite queer-owned Brooklyn businesses. Keep reading for some top-notch spots! You’ll thank us later.

Cult Party

Located in the heart of Bushwick, Cult Party is a “queer women and gender non-conforming- run intersectional feminist witchy boutique and gallery.” Whether you’re looking for eclectic art pieces, t-shirts, or accessories, this boutique is certainly the one for you.

Fluide Beauty

Fluide Beauty is a “mission-driven beauty brand that creates clean cosmetics designed for all skin shades and gender expressions.” Their mission is to “provide a platform and amplify the voices of queer and gender expansive identities.” Fluide offers a beautiful line of cosmic face gloss, bright eyeliners , and more.

L’Imprimerie

L’imprimerie is a queer-owned French bakery and café that offers delicious, freshly baked French pastries and breads. They also use local and organic ingredients whenever they can and bake their items in small batches throughout the day to keep everything fresh. Can you say, bon appétit?

Bluestockings Bookstore

While Bluestockings isn’t located in Brooklyn, it is in NYC and too great of a business to not include. Bluestockings is a queer, trans, and sex worker run bookstore. Stop by and look through their book collection or volunteer for some radical events!

East Village Queer Market

East Village Queer Market is an “in-store and online event spotlighting queer makers, and gay owned businesses producing consumer goods.” The market is set for June 11th from 12-6PM where you can help support queer makers and explore their businesses. Some of the featured participants are “Man Your Style, Unicorn Dynasty, Doable Guys, Rymojis, Virgins on Fire Candle Co, Tarot Card Readings by Herb, and more”.

Kirrin Finch

Kirrin Finch is a “conscientious clothing company, founded by Brooklyn-based couple Laura Moffat and Kelly Sanders Moffat, that meets the growing demand for gender-defying fashion by creating menswear-inspired apparel designed to fit a range of female and non-binary bodies.” While Kirrin Finch doesn’t have a traditional storefront, you can visit their Brooklyn office to try on apparel—just make sure you have an appointment!

Babeland

Founded in 1993 in response to the lack of women-friendly sex shops, Babeland offers quality products, a safe atmosphere to shop, and an informative resource for people exploring their sexualities. Check out their website for more educational resources!
